There are some days you just wake up with a pep in your step and Saturday was one of them. Last week I didn’t post much, one reason being I hadn’t shot a look I wanted to use. The second being, I got a little consumed with what everyone else is doing. By everyone else I mean other bloggers.

I read a lot of blogs for inspiration and because I like to see how people style their outfits. But for some reason recently I have been obsessed with other people’s style rather than my own.  This is unlike me but blogging is a popularity contest, which sometimes make you feel you have to conform to be successful.

Up until Friday I spent most of last week on blogs and social media. I didn’t actually get any work done for my own business. Friday morning I decided enough was enough and I was going to have a break from everything and get back to me. I bought a rolling rack, planned my outfits to shoot and get a fresh cut and color. Saturday morning I woke up hyped and ready to shoot and had one of the best sessions to date.

There is something to be said about drowning out the noise and getting refocused. It is so easy to see what everyone else is doing and just jump on it. But I have never been good at just fitting in so why start now.

Anyway back to the fashion. Last year I was searching high and low for a purse belt and I finally found one I liked at Forever 21. I paired it with a stripe dress, jacket and some boots. I love this look, purely because it reminds me of how I used to dress before moving to NY and I got married. Pep in your step by fanci fantasticPep in your step by fanci fantasticPep in your step by fanci fantasticSee below on items to help you recreate this outfit

  1. Nice post on getting back to who you are after being distracted by the sea of popular bloggers. While I think it’s important to be conscious of your competition, trying to imitate them or being too focused on them can only cause you to lose who you are and produce work you’re not truly happy with. I’m glad you were able to get back to being true to yourself!
